HIGH CPU/RAM USAGE - Astaro 320

We are evaluating an Astaro 320 Hardware UTM. We have about 200 users max connecting to internet at one time. Since installation, the CPU usage was at 80% and RAM exceeding 60%. Swap is not being used!!

We even tried switcing AV, IPS, AS off. But nothing worked! The utilization is  still high. However logging on to the shell, I found the CPU usage being acceptable. But RAM is excessively high! Could someone help please??? We really need some...

    The memory usage looks completely normal. Astaro will use as much memory as possible for things like disk cache (see buffers and cached entries in your top output).

    CPU utilization looks quite normal, too for that many users while using the http proxy and IDS.

    Linux(astaro uses Linux as it's base OS) grabs all free ram for caching which greatly speeds things up.  you have 256 megs cached..that is essentially free ram the system can grab if it needs it.  Your system is working as designed.

    Ok. Thanks! That's good to hear. Hopefully I dont have to replace the box because of these conditions!!

    With all those users, you may have performance issues if all the features are enabled (depending on usage)... for an environment your size we normally sell a 425a, 525, or a custom hardware appliance (again, depends on the amount of traffic that is going through the box and the services that are enabled).  What the others say about RAM usage is on the money; Linux tends to use all the memory in the machine for caching, releasing it as necessary.
