What is "Astaro’s Threat Research Network"?

From the v7 release notes:

Note: Astaro will provide no support to home users and they need to agree to participate in Astaro’s Threat Research Network."

Not concerned with the "no support to home users" but would like to know what exactly does it mean to "participate in Astaro’s Threat Research Network."

I've searched the knowledge base and asked Astaro support, which directed me back to here.

Anyone care to shed some light on this subject?

    The reason that you haven't gotten an answer is that nobody outside of Astaro can say for certain, and this is for the most part a user-to-user forum.
     
    If I had to guess, I'd say that it would most likely be very similar to the SpyNet Network that Microsoft uses in Windows Defender to gather statistical data on Malware prevalence.  In other words, when the Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus features on an Astaro box catch something, they will report some data back to Astaro.  Probably not on an "infection by infection" basis, but more likely daily or weekly.
