V5 Antivirus License - cannot upgrade

Are v7 licenses compatible with v5 software?

My firewall is a Via C3 device and therefore I can't upgrade to 6 or 7 without buying all new hardware which I just dont have the cash to do, v5 is perfectly adequate for my needs at home. So i would like to renew the license I paid for last year from leanshop@asknet.de

Can I do that?

I asked the same thing about V6 (Since V7 is so... well... not ready) and here is the reply I got from Astaro support:

Our product management decide that no more version 6 home user licenses are available to buy. Further existence v6 home user license could not be extended anymore. But now you have the possibility to use Version 7 with all included features for free.

So it seems you need to update to get spam/av filtering. For me though it isn't a total screwup since the homeuser V7 license can be used on V6 and then I have the filtering again [:)]

Unfortunately for me its a screw up, as my hardware is not supported for version 6 as although I have a 533Mhz C3 CPU its an Eden not a nemiah. I guess I could try an install of 7 on it or 6 but I'm not confident it will work as I believe that as of V6 the architecture required a P4 class CPU.

Unfortunately its a screwup for me. I'm using a 533Mhz Eden CPU in my firewall and V6 and V7 do not support it according to the HCL.

I guess I could try installing them and see what happens but I think it would be a waste of time on my part. [:(]

I'll try contacting someone at Astaro in licensing and see if they can do anything. Mind you its been a while since I purchased full version for the companies I was working for so my contacts may no longer be there.
