License renewal.

Due to the way ASL 7 is counting licenses, I will not be upgrading to v7 until this is fixed.
Indeed, we may not renew any of our licenses.

My main issue is that multiple IP's seem to be getting counted that should not be.  Also, roughly half our office (about 30 machines) use laptops with wireless and wired connection.  These are getting counted as two licenses used for each machine which seems patently unfair.

I hope Astaro address this in the near future as the majority of our licenses are due for renewal in 2 months.

    If you haven't done so already, I suggest you either start a support ticket or get your reseller involved to get an answer on this issue.  While some Astaro personnel look at this board from time to time, they don't monitor it continuously for every user complaint / issue.

    I've done that.  problem is with support ticket is that you may end up with some lowly support person whose having a bad day [:)]

    Depends on the way V7 progresses and the license counting.
    Losing two IP's for every laptop in the office is just not on. (One wired, one wireless).

    System appears to be counting machines that don't traverse the firewall as well.

    If this is sorted out we'll stay.  Otherwise we may end up using just a router and then software protection on the mail servers etc.
    Either that, or we stick with v6.  Very happy with v6.

    endian or a highly modded ipcop(which is what i use) could be options as well depending on your needs.

    We've been looking at pfSense a tiny bit. Seems to have most of the features we'd need, but not quite all.
