Why does he want you to eval v7? Is there something in v7 that you absolutely require?

V6 is solid isn't it ?? so go with that, Astaro are continuing to ship V6 or V7 so I heard ..... the issue surely is what is best for the situation if V7 is SO bad why not use V6 .. have you actually run V7 in a production environment on a suitable platform ?

i have one v7 unlimited+HA in production@a customer and my own office in production.
I have 15 v6'srunning at customers with no problems...
Using no new features V7 runs quite good.
At my own office i upgraded to 2GB memory instead of 512, this solved much, except the bit performance (http-proxy) loss i recognize compared to v6.303.
I think when configured same as v6 ..v7 runs quite as good as v6..
I cannot test all features quite good because i dont use all them...but obviously i cannot see huge problems.
The customer installation has problems with pop3 proxy hanging ups(what is really nerving) but this is a temorary problem because i denied using pop3 proxy but the customer needs it...we switch to smtp in a week...
Disable IM/P2P...all problems i seen got to do with that....
V7 increasements on features is huge and they did a good job i think.
What i really hate is that they more and more force the customers go to their appliances with cutting down silver maintanence and pricing the appliance subscriptions not fair to scaleable software-based solutions....  [:(]
It should be more fair to let the customer free(pricing sight) if using ASL-SW based installations instead of fixed ASG APP's...which leak in performance when not 425 or 525.
I understand that supporting several server vendors is much QA but atleast the main players (HP/dell/ibm) should be good supported.
Lets see where the way goes....

I use v6 in production in other sites.  I need the http profiles in v7 for the bigger project.   v7 is great, I agree, but the performance issues need tweaking.  Also this install is for 2,800 concurrent nodes.  So any small flaws home use showup get magnified in larger installs

Dos anyone use v7 in a 2,000+ install I can get more information from?

Also what is the point of evaluating a new product if you can't use the new features due to them being buggy.  I know v6 is good, But I want the new features in v7

i hope Astaro will now release monthly system up2dates.

7.001 was released in the end of january, so i think its possible that 7.002 will be released end of february.

they need to release updates more frequently until v7 is truly out of beta.
