Hi

I do agree that 10 IPs is now too small for most IT perfessional's homes. Desktops, LaIPP Printers, Managed switches, IP Fridges, (Yes I may have one) Tivo and other items that the firewall will sniff
I would urge the Astaro team up this to 15.  I appreciate you can't go too far, as people will start abusing your good nature.

What do others think?

    I don't have more than 10 computers or devices using the internet, but I do have more than 10 IPs.

    Is V7 counting total all devices on the network (using an ARP count or similar) or is it only counting devices which send data to the internet? What should it be counting?

    The way that it's currently understood is that it counts the number of IPs behind the firewall, which is the main point of contention in this thread. Theoretically if you have a network printer, that will count as one of the 10 allowed IPs on your license. Previously it only seemed to count the IPs connecting through the firewall, but now it's being said that it's purely the number of IPs that are on your network regardless of what they do. 

    There is, however, some speculation that if you set devices with a static IP that does not include a default gateway, that it won't count against the 10 IP limit. If that's true then that does still provide some leeway, although I do still hope that Astaro can provide some kind of paid license for home users with lots of networked devices.

    I use a smaller subnet on my Astaro interface (255.255.255.240) whilst all other hosts have a 255.255.255.0 subnet. Then I put all devices that don't need internet access outside the network range of the Astaro box. It seems to work. DHCP is supplied by something other than Astaro and I think I stay within the 10 scope

    It is somewhat moot though as Astaro report 0 licenses in use anyway...
