Hello there,
we are using ASL since a few years in a high-availability-bundle, now running V6.303.
Since a couple of months there are a few (one or two) cpu load-peaks each day , then you can notice a load of about 10, 20 or 30, and as result the machine is not responding to ping or other network requests.
The hardware basis is an intel celeron with 1.70 GHz and 2 GB RAM memory. First, the astaro support tolds us to install more memory - so we did an upgrade to these 2 GB RAM. Secondly, we tried another cpu, so there is a pentium 4 with 2.60 GHz (hyperthreading) now running. No changes to notice - always these cpu load peaks once or twice a day.
Then the astaro support checked the system again and told us that the problem is located in the NTLM authentication that we're using. The ASL is member of our active directory, the http proxy is configured with user authentication/active directory domain membership and uses cobian database for different surf protection profiles.
The active directory runs in a windows server 2003 environment in native mode - but we have not switched from mixed to native mode, it was installed in native mode. the problems with cpu load of ASL occured just a few months ago, the active directory integration is in use for years.
So, we have no idea how to resolve this issue or how to fix it - here are about 200 people using the astaro for access to the internet, and there is no chance to switch off the integrated NTLM-authentication.
Hope you have a good hint for us!
Best regards,
Nils Koch
