ASL Freeze

Dear Friends,

Still I am suffering from the freeze phenomena that my ASL has about each day.

I checked out all the parameters and did not notice any strange thing. I have 4 ASL boxes, only 1 of them has this issue.

1. I wonder if power cuts affect it ?
2. Hardware (2.4GHz Celeron D, 1GB, 80GB) ?

    Usually freezes are caused by flaky hardware. Are you able to test the memory/CPU/PSU of the machine?

    What do you mean by test ? Are you talking about installing WinXP and run the checkit software ?

    I would suggest memtest86 to test the memory (let it run for at least 4-5 hours, preferably a full day) and mprime to test the CPU.

    memtest86 instals on a floppy or CD, and you can find mprime on a bootable CD as well (I think ultimate boot cd has it).

    ASL is very stable hardware and I would strongly suggest following drees' advice.

    Mainly because I have also had the same problems in the past when my ASL box was an old Celeron.  It would lockup quite a bit and it was very frusterating.  Once I moved to a new Duron box all of the problems vanished.  Now I forget that it's there.

    I have 2 DDR512 to be 1 G, I removed one of them. If the problem still persist, I will replace it with the removed one. If the problem persist I will ....
