Crashing? Kernel panic

My ASL has crashed on me a couple of times in the last 24 hours.  I am not sure what is going on.  I do know that I had turned on the HTTP proxy (now back off) sometime yestarday prior to the first crash.  

Hardware as follows (from memory so it could be a little off)

Asus MB
Pentium II-400mhz Processor
512 megs ram
40gb hd
3-com 3c-905b nics (most skeptical on model # here, but they are 3com and identical cards)

Upon the 'crash' I have the screen shown below (sorry for the crappy pic, it was a quickie cell phone pic, as I was late for work)  edit -  I had to make it even worse, as the forum wouldnt allow the 69k size that it was [:@]    If anyone wants a better copy, let me know.

I have also turned of my PPTP as I see that listed a couple times in here, and I couldnt make it work anyway. 



I am pretty new to this, and am struggling quite well with it.  Be patient, as I may not quite understand something you tell me at first, but will catch on pretty fast.

    Possible faulty ram, because the ram consumption will rise, when you turn on the proxy. But only a shot into the blue.

    I will try to get a better copy of the error message when I am home.

    Is there any logs that I can pull from it, that would be useful to someone?



    Sure wish Astaro Tech Support would help me, but because I didnt pay for it, they only can send me here.

    Sure looks like a kernel panic.  You will probably want to change out either the RAM or move up to another processor.  The PII 400 is quite a bit under the Astaro recommended minimum of 900Mhz...

    From the Manual....

    The requirements for installing and using this security system are:
    Hardware
    • Processor: Pentium II or compatible (up to 100 users)
    • Processor: Pentium III or compatible (above 100 users)
    • 256 MB RAM
    • 8 GB IDE or SCSI hard drive
    • Bootable IDE or SCSI CD-ROM drive
    • 2 or more PCI Ethernet network cards
    • 1 USB port for communication with a UPS device (optional).
    Further information can be found on page 21.



    I have a faster system I can try, just really didnt want to resort to a 'good' machine that I could use elsewhere.


    What does 'Kernel Panic' mean?

    Most likely bad hardware. Check the fans first, then try your 'good' machine and see if it makes a difference.

    Ok.

    Odd thing is, it crashed about half a dozen times yestarday, but has been up for almost 24 hours again.

    Hardware Requirements   Product Version: 6.000 or later
     

    Summary:
        The minimum hardware requirements for Astaro Security Linux are:

        CPU:  Intel Pentium II > 900MHz
        RAM: 256MB (512MB/1GB recommended)
        CDROM: IDE or SCSI (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
        Harddisk: > 9 GB hard disk drive and above (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
        NIC: at least 2 PCI NICs (see HCL for support chipsets)
