I'm about ready to ditch Astaro v6...

Hey all,

I have been having a really hard time with my Astaro v6 box lately and I'm about to kick it to the wayside. More and more frequently the box will not allow DNS packets (they are grey in the live Packet filter report) through and I cannot access the internet until I reboot the box.

I have disabled the UDP flood protection in the IPS but that hasn't helped.

This problem has persisted across three installations on two different platforms.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Hmm... we manage at least 10 installs for several customers.. haven't seen this as an issue yet.. have you started a ticket with Astaro?

The DNS requests will be grey in packet filter log if you enable DNS logging under packetfilter --> advanced -->logging options--> log unique DNS requests.

Turn that off to get a better idea of your DNS traffic if you have an internal DNS server. If not make sure your forwarders are reliable. Also you can disable IPS completely to see if that is the problem but like Bruce said, I have never seen IPS interfering with DNS. (yet [:(] )
