Update with reboot on HA?!

The first FW will reboot, the second one will be active for a short time and then install the update while the first one is back to serve your request.
It works pretty good, you can update without any doubt. Keep in mind that you will have a short downtime like with a single box installation.

I made the Update on the first appliance -> it reboots -> the HA take over with a little downtime -> the first appliance ist finished rebooting an take over back -> then the HA make the update and reboot for an short time?

I had a little downtime an make this after our business Hours

Have you already done that or are you going to do it?

You have to click install on the active (=first, passive device is referred to as second) device. The first device will install the packet and reboot. While the first device is rebooting the second device will be completely up until the first device comes up again. The second one will see that it has to install an up2date packet. It will install this packet and reboot, this is the moment when the second short downtime will occur, the devices are again switching modes, the first one is active again. The second device will come up as version 6.203 and see that there is already an active device present and sit there until the first device fails. Like before, only in version 6.203.

You should plan your downtime as long as two reboots last, that should buy you enough time.
Don't be afraid, the only thing you can do is click "install" and let it go. I never had any issues with the up2date process in HA mode.

after installing 6.203 on ASG220, the slave stops working after about 20 hours. Support is trying to fix it.

I have the same problem but here the primary stops working!

we have the same problem here with a AGS525 Bundle. After installing 6.203 (witch fails the first time), the primary comes up and lost all its Licenceinformation. Support fixt this problem and installs the update on both boxes. Then after possible 20 hours both instances stops working. We have to reboot both and than they just works for another 20 hours.
In the end we have to reimage both ASG´s and set up 6.202 again.

had the same problem...

Slave lost his HA-Config after Upgrade to 6.203. We had to shutdown the Master, Login to Slave and reactivate the HA-Config incl. the Settings. After restart the Master, everythings work fine again.

I'm thinking a new feature that allows you to remove an update may be a good idea!!

On users wishlist since V3/V4 i think, but never been realized...
