v4 License Expired ... urgent help needed

Hi,

I am new IT manager in company and firewall used is Astaro v4, installation was done by i dont know who and when and there is no login information for linux system, and when i try to login to webadmin i get error:
License Expired enter new license key.

I would like to login on that system check things out, see current setup and upgrade to version 6.

Where can i get temporary license key for v4, what can i do?

    Do you have any passwords at all? Without them your best bet is to leave the firewall in place and put a new V6 firewall on a spare external IP and migrate your users/traffic over.

    Contact a reseller through www.astaro.com or find the invoice for your original purchase and contact that reseller and see if you can get a trial licence.

    No, i do not have password, i am not shure did previus IT manager bought a liecense or he just installed trial version. I am thinking of deleting everything but our connection to internet will be down in that time, becous of network mess and lack of my expirience in linux firewall systrems i would like to log on to firewall and see its current setup, so when i install new one v6 i ca enter configuration asap.

    i will try to ceontac them, i though its not that hard to find some trial license.

    He must have had passwords to set it up.  It is the first step of install.  Check with her/him to find out. 

    If it aint broke, leave the existing firewall doing its thing while you get a new firewall up and working.  No need to delete it if it is quietly doing a reasonable job. Setup the new one inside your LAN and get it working so you are comfortable with it.  Then move it onto a  spare external IP and migrate your users over to it.  If you do not have a spare IP - get a new DSL line with 8 static IPs.  This will give you a backup internet connection when you are sorted. 

    Recommend you download the latest image from ftp.astaro.com and put it on a new PC with two NICs.  Check www.astaro.com/kb for good howto documentation.  It comes with a 7 day licence by default. 

    Its easy to get a trial licence.  Contact Astaro or one of us (hint) resellers through the Astaro website.

    If there's no boot password set (usually isn't), you can probably boot into single user mode and reset the root and loginuser passwords, and read the license file.
