To use clamav with home license

They have been doing it with Spamassasin for quite a  while now.  They are not licensing just ClamAV per se, but including it in the Email package. They are only charging for the updates which they provide. Not for ClamAV itself. They have to QA the updates before they are pushed to the firewall. This is a commercial product, and last thing I would want is corrupted updates bringing down my perimeter defenses.

Same thing came up with the IDS/IPS (SNORT) system... I was against them charging for it.  But, they have done a fantastic job of integrating it all and the updates are nice.

They do not take money for the product itself but for the support and the updates and this is fully compatible with the GPL.

And what about paying a few bucks instead of having a complete company network down for a day.

I don;t disagree.  I have a home license with the paid subscription.  I just figured alot of complaints would funnel in due to the GPL.
