6.002 - ASL stops and all connections lost...?

Hi all,
Does anyone else have this problem? It seems to happen every couple of hours.
Using P4 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB DDR, 120 MB Maxtor HD. Don't think it's a hardware problem. 
Can anyone suggest a way to start debugging this?

    First guess: Check the BIOS for any power management functions that may be kicking in. All power management functionality should be turned off. 
    Other than that, is the console still responsive? Does top show any run away processes?
