Network Definition - DNS Hostname

I am having a problem with the web GUI. When I create a network definition that is a DNS hostname the item I create does not display in the list. If I create any other kind of netowrk definition (ie host, network, network group) they show up with no problem. If I try to create my DNS hostname definition a second time I get a message that says the name already exists. Am I missing somthing here? Is this type of network definition listed somewhere else?

What version are you running? I just tried adding a DNS Hostname definition to mine and it appeared immediately. You might try refreshing the screen by going somewhere else in the GUI and then back to Network Definitions.

Ok, I guess the gremlins in the system are done laughing at me.  The definitions are now showing up.  I just cannot explain it.  I swear I did not have a filter on or anything.  But now they are back.

What's also weird is I was able to create definitions using the same names I was tyring to use before and I did not get the error that the name already existed.

I just don't get it.  Oh, well.

Like you said - "gremlins". Still strange though. I've had a few instances where a config change didn't seem to 'take' (or took only partially), but a restart always sorted it out.

At least it's behaving now.

what calss of hardware(cpu type and speed and ram).  On my old p2-350 the defs would sometimes take some time to show up.

I found that how well your configured DNS servers in your DNS proxy work either slows down or speeds up the resolving of the hostname.
