ASL BBS Status

The BBS uses UBB.thread. The BBS admin sets up a series of special titles that will be applied to users as they reach specified numbers of posts. More info under http://www.ubbcentral.com/support/docs

As to your comments - One would think it would work that way, I sure did,  but a browse over the BBS would seem to contradict this.

To take one example, I would think that someone with the status of Pooh-Bah would have reached a pinacle (unless there is a Grand Pooh-Bah that is) but I have seen someone with more posts than a "Pooh-Bah" with only the status of "member".  If the status of a user was based on posts this would not be the case.   [:S]

Again, I refer to my original question; How does this status system work?
In the grand scheme of life I know that this is totally unimportant but I would just like to know . . .

the titles are setup as per your post count.  The more you post your title goes up.  This is not a ranking of who is better or worse.  There are some very good folks on this board with more knowledge than me and less posts than i.  It is simply a board feature not a ranking..[:)]

The star rating is also based on user votes on YOU.

So if someone likes you or thinks you know a lot they can vote how many stars you are worth.

Of course, if nobody votes, you don't get any.

Simon and William, you guys are a case in point.
If the status is in fact based on the number of posts, why is it that Simon with more posts is not a "Grand Pooh-Bah"?

like Simon said, the star ranking is based on user ratings.
But it's no competition here to get more stars then others.
I never seen somenone begging for stars   , 
most users here are only concentrating of the content and are happy for every hint.

The number of posts 'should' reflect in the users status "stranger, member" etc.
But i think through several updates of the board software the Status of some members is frozen or not growing anymore
depending of the time they registered ?!?

Some users like Simon having tons of posts and a 'lower' level like others with less posts.
Most users don't seem to care about it (me neither haven't yet recognized that "Poo-Bah" thing).
By walking around the forum for a while, you'll "know your guys" which are always there  

I think you have put your finger on it Karsten.
I too believe that changes/updates to the BBS is the most likely cause for some users not having their status updated as their number of posts increases.

As I said right at the start, it was just a question of "why is it so"? 
As you have mentioned, anyone who takes a look around the BBS will see the people that post regularly to this BBS and keep ASL "feature rich" by their contributions.

Simon mentioned the star rating. This is something I never asked about as this is pretty simple to understand. People vote for you and you get more stars. Budda bing, budda boom . . .
The way the BBS seems to be working now it would seem that I am destined to be a "Junior Member" for the rest of my life.   [:(]

Given that this is pretty pointless post, I would like to thank those that took the time to comment.

As you pointed out, there are more important problems to fix than the user ranking. Matter of fact, you are not worse off than me: I have the status "moderator" and will never advance to "super-moderator".  :-)
And, although having quite some knowledge about the ASL, I am still stuck at two stars. Probably I declined too many feature requests *eg*
