Hard Drive

Hi, we have recently upgraded to ASL 5 and have our old ASL 4 installation on a HDD. This was done to preserve the logs, however is there any way I can copy the logs across to a Windows PC, say by using it as a second drive?

    Windows won't be able to read the reiser partitions.  The easiest way to retrieve the logs would be to either add the drive to an existing Linux machine and mount the log partition, or install the drive into another server, start ASL, login and change the SSH settings to allow log in by root, then you can use your WINSCP client to copy the logs from the drive to any machine you choose.  You may want to tar the whole log directory in case it is very large.

    Hope this gives you some ideas on how to solve your problem.
