Astaro licensing - You need to read

Peoples, 

In the year of 2003 we bought 200 licenses and support of the client VPN of Astaro (SSH Sentinel). 

All know that this year, Astaro doesn't work with SSH Sentinel more, only work with ASC (Astaro Secure Client) and if you need a client VPN, You will need to buy again (spoke Astaro consultant) or to seek a free software or continue with old SSH Sentinel version without support. 

What will happen with the Astaro products? I don´t know! And you?

    I had this happen with us as well.. we only bought 10 licenses though. However once Windows XP SP2 came out, we were out of luck. I would love to be able to use the ASC, however when I am already upgrading our firewalls to ASG appliances, I just don't have the budget left for the ASC.

    Can ASL (5.2x) still connect to a Cisco VPN for a net-to-net VPN?

    Well, Safenet bought the Sentinel from SSH, but decided NOT to support Sentinel, instead pulling out their own software based on Sentinel. This is clearly something that was beyond Astaro's power.  Safenet and SSH press info 

    However, Astaro sold this product under their name (think it was something like Astaro remote IPSec client or so at the moment). They offered the new ASC for a certain discount to the old customers, but this is not the same of course.

    We got ASL 5.1 with educational licensing for 500 IPs, Web AV and SPAM Filtering but NO Intrusion Protection. Recently ASTARO has changed their licensing policy and I came to know that they no longer offer Educational discounts :-( Moreover my SPAM Filters that are still valid till September 2007 will also expire if I go for new licensing scheme. Although Intrusion Protection comes as part of new ASLs free of cost, I still can't get this functionality due to my old license.

    ANY WAY OUT OF THIS????????? SO THAT I GET INTRUSION PROTECTION + SPAM PROTECTION with no additional cost???

    Sadly no way out from what I see... but if you have WebAV it'd probably be good to have MailAV as well.  that way you can make sure everyone's pop3 download of their mail is getting scanned for viruses as well as everything going to your internal mail server via smtp

    Why don't you just talk to your ASL sales representive, I've found they are pretty reasonable about things like this, just explain the situation calmly and see what they say.  [:S]
