A number of functions do not work with firefox. Most notably those that span another browser copy. So I am forced to use IE.
Any config suggestions???

The things I've noticed with FireFox (1.02) are bothersome, but don't prevent me from using it with WebAdmin. But here's a couple examples:
On Executive Rreport, if you click view report to see the current report, the slider doesn't work right. You can use the arrows fine, but can't grab the slide bar and move it.
On the Up2Date page, the little blue "i" info icon next to the "Virus Protection", if you mouse over it, a window pops up showing the new definitions in the latest update. You can't scroll down through the whole list. As soon as the mouse pointer gets to the scroll bar the window closes.

Yes, Firefox sticks to standards more but the fact is that IE works on more sites more fully than Firefox does. I just finished a one month eval of it.
Yes, Firefox has some great features and is a good product but my above statement stands.

Not in my travels. I very rarely hit an ie only site anymore. Most sites that i have seen also render just fine on FF/mozzie. The only ones that have issues are ones typically designed using MS programs set at their defaults.

[/ QUOTE ]Same here. I have been using Firefox since v1.0 came out. Prior to that I used Netscape v7. There have been very few web sites that I have had to use IE to access, and then it usually has been due to the design of a data entry form on the site using Microsoft specific code.
I have been able to log in to OWA using Firefox only by adding "[domain].local\" in front of the user's log in name. Have you found this too? After logging in, I have found the interface is quite ... flat.

Because of such issues, I sometimes have to open up IE, but I have never liked or trusted IE enough to leave it configured as the default web browser on any of my Windows PCs.

I've been experimenting
Tried it with Opera 8. The "i" icon popup for the virus list works OK there, but the Executive report is totally broken. click "Show" to see the current report and you get a frame with a "The requested URL /_blank was not found on this server". Changing the browser ID string doesn't make a difference. There are also other issues that can make it difficult to navigate (menus closing un-expectedly depending on desplay layout in main window).
I tried it with FireFox 1.03 (which is supposed to be the same browser as Mozilla 1.7.7, just standalone), and see the same thing here.. Also tried it on a different machine - same thing. Could be something else contributing to the problem I'm seeing if you arn't seeing it there.
Netscape 7.1 seems to have the same problems as FireFox.
Taking the anti-virus "i" button as a test. I copied the frame source to a HTML file and tried it that way. Same behavior from FireFox. I did find that the pop-up window works correctly in Netscape 4.7 (although WebAdmin in general doesn't - I don't get past the login screen).
It looks like the "i" problem is a Gecko problem (since it seems to only exist for Gecko based browsers). It acts the same on the latest beta of Mozilla 1.8b2. Mozilla 1.8b2 seems to fix Executive Report slider issue so that's good.
In the end neither of these is enough to prevent someone from using FireFox with WebAdmin (although Opera could be a hassle).
I did not have any of those issues with 1.7.7 in ASL 5 when i ran v5. I also tried it under 1.02 at the time and everything rendered fine. NC about why you are seeing the issues and i wasn't..[:)]

[/ QUOTE ]There is a simple solution for people who prefer the Firefox browser, but discover that some web pages are best rendered in IE.
Simply install the IEview plugin for Firefox. Configure the IEview plugin with your list of URLs for the web sites that you would prefer to view in IE, and presto, your problem is solved.
