5.200 is making me crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Siddus here ...
No I am having some serious problems after I updated to
ASL 5.200 ...
The system seems to "freeze" time and time again and all
that seems to work is to do a restart, it seems that ASL is 
"freezing" the nic's so that my system stops responding ???
This is not acceptble in a router/firewall system that should be running always without major disturbance ???
I don't know where the problem might be so I had to install
clarkconnect to get a functional firewall/router ..
All my logs seem to be normal so if anyone knows a remedy for my problems I would be most appreciative

    yep, we have the same problem on 2 different machines now, one a 5.200 the other a 5.103

    both are freezing seemingly without any reason, nothing shows in the logs

    Marc,

    please contact your local partner you got the licenses from to shed some light on the problem you have or in doubt contact Astaro support and provide some more details about your setup, machine type, proxies you use and so on.

    yes, that's what i'm going to do.

    in fact, we first thought it was hardware or a backup/import problem, and we ruled the software out as we've been using it for a year

    now that we have a second one freezing, we're going to contact our partner

    Hi,

    we saw somthing similar under 5.103.

    Do you have 'monitor interface usage' on any of your nics?

    Using Adaptec quad port starfire nics, with monitoring on, with default settings, we had a number of freezes under 5.103 - no issues with it turned off.

    The machine would lockup solid, shortest period between freezes was 2 days, longest was 7.
    The machine wouldn't respond to anything on any network port, and the console was also non-responsive.

    I haven't tried the monitoring under 5.2 yet.

    Edit: forgot to mention - nothing in the logs leading up to the lockup time.

    nope I dont have monitoring on my interfaces, I use 2 different
    realtek-cards one 8039 and one 8139 ..
    This wasn't a problem when i ran ASL 5.015 ???
    What has changed between theese versions and is there any way to fix this.
    I can't get support from astaro since I am using a home-license so i am hoping that someone here knows what is wrong with my ASL-machine  !!!!

    Is there not any cure for this problem ????
    Maybe the only way to fix this is to go back to the earlier
    beta version that I user before this ..
    That one didn't behave this way..

    5.200 has a newer kernel.

    It's possible the Realtek or some other driver has changed.

    get the hell rid of this cards !! the realtek cards freeze your system! they are pice of crap... 

    get some real nics like intel, 3com or anything like that.

    and you ll see your problems are gone... no freeze at all..

    since updating my astaro to 5.2 it keeps rebooting itself after a day or so.  very annoying

    most of these issues are hardware problems...
    the freeze i.e. : i had the same problem as described above , with realtek cards. not only in ASL also in some servers.. every time you think: got dam it, dont see anything , so why the hell is this thing not working..

    belive me... most of the problems are hardware issues...
    also motherboards and CPUs get old ...  and if you have lousy parts on your nic (realtek!) or board, then you got MANY problems , which are hard to explain...
