Problems with executive report

Hi,

in my home-network I installed a new box with debian as mail- and file-server.
It uses exim 4 and cyrus-imap as mailbox. It is only used to get the messages from the ASL-box.
I have no problems receiving all the status messages from ASL, but the executive reports are failing and sending the following error message:

2005-03-03 23:59:11 Received from <> R=1D6zHj-00032b-Br U=Debian-exim P=local S=105910
2005-03-03 23:59:11 wk@server.home  R=local_user T=cyrus_delivery: LMTP error after end of data: 554 5.6.0 Message contains NUL characters


What does this message mean ? 
Any ideas, to get the reports delivered?

    Hi,

    First of all, which ASL version are you using? There have been changes in the executive report in the latest version 5.200.

    The error you receveived is from the cyrus IMAP server, and it doesn't like some character(s) in the executive report.

    Sorry for posting in the wrong section.

    I use ASL 5.103 and have this since several days. Perhaps 5.200 will change this behavior.

    I know, that the errormessage is from the IMAP-server, but the cause of the error is the ASL-box. which sends mail, a regularily cionfigured cyrus-server doesn't like.

    Try 5.200, this might solve the issue. 
    I don't know where in the executive report a NUL character could appear, so I don't have any hints on what to tweak or fix. You might search for a configurable option of the cyrus IMAP server to allow NUL characters (other servers like MS exchange don't care about that, either).

    I'll try 5.200 the next days. Perhaps the issue disappears.
    I had postfix working for a long time without any problems. It's the combination of ASL and Cyrus.
    I thought, that perhaps someone else had the same problem and allready solved it.

    Hi,

    to keep you updated.
    5.200 solved the problem. I receive the report now without having changed anything in my debian box.

    Thanks for reporting back the good news :-)
    It's good to hear that this fix did already help someone. The original intention was to make debugging easier, and we expected that it might fix some problems related to this issue (but we were never sure it would do since we could not reproduce). All we really knew for sure is that it wouldn't make things worse, and that it is a cleaner approach from the technical point of view :-)
