I was not sure if this forum or the HTTP Proxy forum was best for this question, but we have a need here onsite to use AIM/MSN messenger. It's easy enough to create the rule in packet filters to open up the required port/s, as well as add them to Alllowed Target Services in the HTTP Proxy. Both work fine. For it to work with the HTTP proxy I have to have the Anonymity set to None, because messenger won't work without cookies. This is no big deal, because this is how I have it set anyway.
My question is which one is more secure as far as someone possibly hacking back in through the firewall? Or is it about the same risk either way?
