internet seems to be so slow?

Please give some more informations. Do you use the HTTP-Proxy? How is it configured?
Is the DNs-Proxy used? Are there forwarders configured?

no, i don´t use the http proxy. port 80 is open for the clients.
dnsproxy is running inside and is forwarded to my isp´s dns...

Agreed; also check that you are not logging too many packets. If certain packets are frequent and the norm (example: chatty Microsoft broadcast packets on port 138), make a rule to drop them from the Log. Otherwise, excessive logging can make a machine crawl like you describe...

but behind the fw there are just 3-4 clients, i think the hardware is enough for that.

but the logging-clue could be it, as far as i remember i configured to log almost everything *g*
for learning purposes, i thought it is a good idea

[/ QUOTE ]Your CPU performance is marginal at best, and you do not have enough RAM to run ASL v5.x properly.

I would suggest that you should consider a 500 MHz P3 with 256 MB RAM as your minimum platform.

agreed.  As you can see below my hardare specs are low in the cpu department which cause me to not be able to use accounting(which is a logging feature).  it simply overburndens the cpu and causes other usability issues(luckily I am not having internet performance issues).

hmm, the 3-4 clients are the maximum.
this just happens when friend visit me.
most of the time i´m alone behind my firewall, so the cpu should be enough by far.
but i will upgrade my RAM to 256mb, this should fix some problems.
the jump from 466 to 500mhz is in my constelation not neccesary, or i´m wrong?

34mhz is not going to make a noticeable difference if it is staying with a celeron.  You really need a non-celeron box.  That is the only reason i can get away with a p-2 350 as it is NOT a celeron..[:)]

Hi i have the same problem with asl v5.207.

Everything happens suddenly yesterday after 2 years of normal use.

Also web admin navigation is very slow.

Cpu usage is 1-4 %
Phisical memory free are 25mb.

What about v6 301.  I have a 850 athlon, 1 gig ram and 30 gig hd. Via chip mobo. I do have
alot of features turned on such as = proxy,Ips,content,accounting,pop3 proxy,etc.

When I first started w/ v6  I was usind a dual pII with 18 gig scsi and 256 ram
Seemed very slow for thru put once items were turned on. I am using same
net cards. On the average there is only 2 surfing, and web svr in DMZ.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions. I was going to start turning off features to see. Yes I do log alot of drops know as compared to 4 mos ago.
