Interesting News Regarding SHA-1 Encryption

I recently heard that the SHA-1 encryption algorithm has been broken and I would like to hear what you all think about it.  This story alarmed me and I am about to start to get rid of it on my Astaro box(I use it for VPN tunnels).

    As far as i know, SHA-1 is not an encryption algorithm, just a cryptographic hash algorithm. For encryption you normally use AES, which is also not yet cracked.

    If SHA-1 is to insecure for you, just use SHA2-256 or SHA2-512, those are not cracked yet and Astaro supports these since 2 years.
