file transfer using SSH client

If you want to make connections FROM ASL to another computer, you'll need to add PF rules to allow outgoing SSH.

e.g.
From ASL EXT Interface (or INT or whatever)
Service SSH
To host(s)
Allow

did you try to login as 'root'? That is not possible.
You have to connect as 'loginuser'

i logged in as loginuser then did su -

What login are you using in your SCP client??

when opening an SSH secure file transfer window I get an error message that says: Failed to open a secure file transfer session.

Does that mean that ASL doesn't support the file transfer client?

i use WinSCP, but with the SCP option and not SFTP.

OK winscp works, but how do you login as root?

Astaro won't let you use root for ssh/scp.

For uploading, copy the files to /tmp or /home/login and then use ssh and su to move them where you need.
