Secutrends Licence

Hi,

I am considering purchasing a Secutrends A300 Astaro Appliance. I want to provide some cover for this in case of failure. Is it possible to have a PC setup in the same way, same no. of NICs etc. and use this as a cold standby unit in case of failure.
I have been told that the licence would not permit this. Is this correct ?
I have seen from the initial install that there is a seven day trial licence provided. Would this suffice until a replacement unit could be dispatched ? This is usually possible within a day or so.

    Dear shaunlee,

    using an appliance bundled license with other units than the respective appliance is not permitted by the astaro license agreement. So your configuration should not really be a legal usage of the astaro license. If you want to build a cold-standby environment, a second unit can be purchased for a discounted price from your Secutrends reseller.

    Hi,

    I have purchased Secuntrends A300 High availability. I just need to know if we have a disaster and both are wiped out, whether it is possible to use the configs on a backup PC whilst the replacement units are being organised ?

    I think nobody will have problems if you use the license temporary on your own hardware for that reason...
