10. and 172. network

Hi all.

I've been monitoring the number of intrusion to my server lately and have managed to filter out 98% of all IPs who tried.

Two networks, 10 and 172, are constantly being used and destination port is always 68. Is this network used by Astaro?

If I block this network, will it cause a problem?

    That's probably your ISP's DHCP servers and blocking it would be a very bad idea if you're using DHCP.

    You might be able to drop DHCP broadcasts though.

    Hy Barry. Thanks for the reply.

    I was guessing the same because of the port it's using. But it was a guess and I wasn't sure and so it's always good to ask for expert advice...

    Some ISPs use private addressing for thier network equipment.

    Astaro's DNS proxy is good for handling local DNS requests. [;)]
