IPX anyone?

Is there any way to at least forward IPX on my FW?

BTW, this is not a firewall in the sense that it's protecting my network from the bad guys outside. It's an internal FW that's being used as a router and VPN tunnel terminator, so it's hardly playing a firewall role.

    ASL does not route IPX traffic. If you have IPX traffic on your network, that means that you have NetWare v3 or v4 running, since NetWare v5 or higher works natively over IP.

    NetWare comes with a network driver called IPTUNNEL.LAN, which allows IPX traffic to be tunneled through a IP only network. You can use this to get IPX traffic through ASL, or any other IP only router.

    You can freely install NetWare 4 without needing a licence, which limits it to two simultaneous logins, and then just use it as a router. To route IPX traffic through an IPTUNNEL, you need an old PC with 64 MB RAM, I GB disk and a single Ethernet card, which will then get both the IPX and the IP protocol bound to it.

    Recommended software for the local IPTUNNEL endpoint is NetWare 4.11 with SP9. Then enable IPTUNNEL on your existing NetWare server, point them at each other's IP address, and you are in business.
