Internet connection very slow or hang

First off how do you have your asl configured. What is the version that you are using A.K.A 5.026?

Do you use HTTP proxy- if so what mode ?
Are you using Content Filtering with virus scanning?
Did you enable the web proxy cache?
Did you setup any packet filters? 
Are you using PPPoE on DSL or does your ISP support DHCP?

We need info on your setup in order to help.

1. I use ASL version 5.024

2. I enable HTTP proxy, but not sure what mode. I will check and come back. Right now I am off ASL.

3. No, I do not use Content Filtering and/or Virus scanning.
Actually, I test-used it, but it slowed things down, and turning it off showed that connection speeded up.

4. I don't think I turn on or change anything of web proxy cache. But let me check it.

5. Packet filter was used, in order to go through the firewall.
I let the Internal Network link to External address and, probably set Any.

5. I did not try PPPoE. My ISP supports DHCP.

6. I also changed something in ICMP or ICML, but need to see it again.

My setup is: 

Internet -> ADSL -> (DHCP from ISP) Router (LAN side-IP) -> 

(DHCP) ASL (Internal IP) -> switching hub -> 2 WinPCs, notebook.
