Virus Scanning

Hey,
I'm curious what people think of the robustness of the virus scanning capabilities of ASL.  Do people find that this is sufficient to protect the Win servers?  I have a lab in my basement and am wondering if it's worth the trouble to setup scanning locally (as I've done for years) or if this functionality is adequate.

    Would recommend you to keep always a local scanner.

    Just some thoughts:
    If you use two manufacturers you can hope that if one is too slow by serving antivirus updates, the other is maybe fast enough.
    Also the internet is not the only source of viruses. What about CD/DVD-ROMs, USB-Sticks etc. ?!
    What about laptop users, connecting to their home network and then plug back in the office network ?

    you are right! i think it is recommended! for web/email protection is used asl, for workstation in business i think trendmicro is the best - for home use avg antivirus.

    Question to postreaders: what did you use for and what is your experience? tell me more please, because i offen have discuss.

    i know, the qualiti of an scanner changes from patter to pattern, but i think some products stay always on the first three places!

    You have to concern Internet i not the only way to get a Virus!
    If you don't want install the scanner on each PC by hand, use a Symantec AV Server - or Trendmicro,....
    So you're able to deploy from one console to each pc, also the Updates will be depolyed over this server and you have a central management to check witch update is installed on the clients......

    I use the a/v in astaro abut i also have 35 attachment types filtered.  I ahve had zero virii get past this configuration.   I do not run floppies.  

    But for a business i would keep avg on the desktops jsut to guard against floppy contamination
