Strange. We use an off-site host for our mail as well, and we are having no problems getting our mail via POP3. We are using the POP3 proxy. Have you double checked your settings? If you are using the proxy, check there, otherwise check your packet filter rules. If all looks normal, you might want to reboot. I know you should not have to when updating, but I do anyway just to be sure.
