You can try changing bios to a different disk mode (LBA, Large, Normal, ...) Try LBA first, then large, then normal. You may have to re-install ASL with each try.
Also, see if there's a newer bios for your board, or last resort, try a different HD or motherboard.
I have installed ASTARO v5.024 and also v4 using different disk access mode's and nothing happens. Also I have downloaded the lastest BIOS upgrade for the motherboards
System Configuration: two motherboards as been tested... - Intel 815 EFV - Soyo 7IWM/L Processor: Intel Celeron 600Mhz 66/33 (Coppermine) Memory: Kingston 128 PC 133 Hard Disk: Western Digital 20GB WD200
How I have fixed this mess: In all instalations HDD was set to slave, and need to be set in MASTER mode to work.
Future users reference: When LILO only shows in the screen the letter L means... - The first stage boot loader has been loaded and started, but it can't load the second stage boot loader.
And the code 01 01 01 01 01... means - “Illegal command”. This shouldn't happen, but if it does, it may indicated an attempt to access a disk which is not supported by the BIOS.
