High Availability

Does anybody have an Astro Appliance 30 with a high availability standby ?

Exactly how does the standby appliance work ? How are the security changes replicated to the standby appliance ?

The changes are replicated through a dedicated network connection, using rsync.

The standby device basically sits at a low runlevel, and then when it detects the primary device has failed, it changes runlevels to activate itself.

Does rsync also synchronise the state of each connection to give a seamless switchover to the standby appliance ?

no, the slave machine does rise its runlevel and client connections must be "set up with new machine".
In other words: all connections are lost. [:(]
