Reasons for Upgrading from V4 to V5 for Home User?

Hi all,

I have a Home User License for V4.  I'm trying to decide if I want/need to upgrade to V5.  I guess the first thing I noticed is that my current V4 install allows for 16000 concurrent connections and that the V5 install will only allow for 4000 concurrent connections.  I'm not sure I'll ever need 16000, but I hate losing functionality.  Also, I now see that V5 is ICSA Certified.  What are the differences between V4 & V5?  Are the updates that were necessary to bring V5 up to ICSA specs also incorporated into V4?   I need the DMZ capability and have been tossing around purchasing multiple ICSA Certified SOHO routers to create a DMZ in place of Astaro. (For space and heat reasons) Therefore, I would be willing to pay $100-$200 for a version that does not limit my connections. I'd appreciate any thoughts people have on this.

    astaro is king of dmz's.  Just use the Nat/Masquerading feature and the packet filter..easy.  Frankly the ICSA certification was to improve enterprise reach and for home use is nothing special.  I have v4 and v5 here.  I run v5 because i do not have to hack dyndns support into v5 like i do v4.  If it were not for that reason i would still be running v4.  V4 can handle everything you are asking and then some.  You say for space/heat reasons..what are you using for your server?  


    Frankly,  it appears v4 is doing everything you need it to do and can handle the additional things you are asking.  Stick with v4..[:)]

    v4 is cool.  However they are not keeping the darn thing patched.  Kernels etc...
    Do Astaro still want to properly support v4?  Last patch was 4.022.  How many kernels have been released since?  Are we ever going to see regular updates again?

    I am sure they want to support v4..however the litany of issues with v5 has them tied up..
