May I continue using V4 if Up2date license expires

We're using V4 here at the office and since I have no plan whatsoever to upgrade to V5 I figure I no longer need the up2date service.
If my up2date license expires, must I remove the software or can I keep on using it 'as it is'?
I would of course renew the AV license.

    not really sure but I would say that the base license is yours. In my opinion a firewall is pretty fast useless (or not longer safe) without updates. If I were you I would consider to extend the up2date subscription.

    But are there any new updates for V4?
    Me thinks all new updates are for V5 as V4 is reaching it's end of life.  In any case, it's been a while since there was an update for V4.
    I do not want to upgrade (downgrade?) to V5 so it seems a bit pointless to pay for a Up2date license when there's no updates.   [:S]

    considering i ahve a v4 license at least until 2005 and Astaro has effectivly said at least 2006...i doubt v4 is near EOL.

    yes, you can use the ASL V4 base license also without up2date service.
    But you will not be able to receive any pattern or system up2dates.

    Yes we do maintain ASL V4 until end of 2006 i think and we have multiple up2date for V4 in the pipeline which are currently in the QA process.
    As ASL V4 runs very stable, we put extra effort into Quality Assurance to keep it that way, but unfortunatly that takes time.
