OK I got the answer so I thought I better post it for others information as well. ASL 5.xxx supports Wireless PCMCIA cards with PRISM 2/2.5/3 compatible chipset.
PCI-Wireless cards are not yet supported by ASL!
This is pretty interesting since the information that I posted, I found it in ASL 5 User Manual and it seems pretty interesting that the PCI Wireless cards are yet being used. I was wondering as well since ASL itself gives the option of selecting the PCI Wireless Card, then why would they state that it doesn't in their manual. Anyway, I think that they need to identify this mistake in their manual.
Anyway thanks Andre, can you kindly provide me information as to where can I get a list of the Wireless Ethernet Cards that could be used with ASL!
Yes you are right and to add on to the information, all those PCI cards that use the PRISM 2/2.5/3 chipsets, can be used with ASL. No other PCI than these can be used with ASL, otherwise, PCMCIA, that too with PRISM 2/2.5/3 chipset.
You can also use Atheros based a/b/g cards if you compile the MADWIFI modules for your appropriate release of ASL. I have used a Linksys A/B/G card with the ath_hal drivers and it works great. I actually have less problems with the Atheros drivers than I do with the Prism based cards, mainly due to firmware issues with the Prism cards.
