Port Issues

I have an issue with ASL that has been ongoing and I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I have many ports opened thorugh rule bases. Sometimes I turn the rule off so that the port closes and I don't have to worry about anyone accessing my FTP when I shut it down. The problem comes in when I start my FTP back up and turn the rules back on. The port does not open back up unless I restart ASL. I am not sure why this is but untill I do a reboot of my firewall the port will not open up. The Port shows green in the rule base but no one can get to the FTP.

Anyone else seen this? Anyone have any ideas?  [:S]

    u got this problem only with ftp or with other services too ?
    there is a helper module for ftp in asl to get active ftp working, maybe there is the problem.
    look out in the webui for the iptables helper modules and try to disable/enable it instead of rebooting the machine ...

    It isn't just FTP.. I just used FTP as one of the examples. This happens with any port I close and then open. HTTP, SMTP, DNS, etc....

    I have the same scenario and it works without problems. Do you see any dropped packets in the packetfilter.log? Are the packetfilters set in ip tables? If not, please check if the middleware and confdaemon are running.
