IP Addresses and Licensing

How are the licensed IP addresses determined? I am a home user, 10 IP license on 5.012.  I show 3  IP addresses I own, but are not assigned to the ASL, nor are they utilized by any hardware. They do not respond to a ping.  They are in my range, I own a 8 address range, but I don't use them anywhere. There are 5 usable addresses, one is assigned to ASL,  the other 4 are unused, but 3 of them show up in my IP address list under System/Licensing/Licensed Users (IP). I tried  the Reset User Listing function, but they returned.  This is taking 30% of my available licenses. Where do they come from, and how can I get rid if them. [:S]

    the ip counter is a known problem and the astaro team is still working on that. 
    plz use the search function on this forum and you´ll see - it works

    Hey, thanks for the info. My concern is twofold. One, is someone attacking those IP addresses, and two, am I going to run out of licenses here. I do plan on using one of those addresses in the future, but I was holding back to see just how far a 10 address license would take me. I use ASL to protect my household LAN, with 4 users, but a bunch of computers (it is also my personal Lab).

    I will add, this is the second install of ASL on this system, and the previous install did utilze these addresses.  According to the installer, the old installation should have been wiped from the system.  Any chance the old install could still be leaving some footprints behind?

    No, no chance of that.  A reinstall does a complete reformat and reload from scratch.  The counters for licensing purposes do not work correctly in the current version, Astaro knows about those issues but they're tied up dealing with bigger fish at the moment.  Eventually, they are going to start enforcing licensing, but they're tight-lipped about when and how.
