Dear Astaro,
I don't know if this could be useful to anybody else:
Currently the SMTP proxy is only able to deliver to the final SMTP server on port 25 (default, not selectable).
I think it would be useful to be able to deliver on alternate ports, for the following reason:
For instance, some email servers are internally and the port 25 can be used, but sometimes the destination server is in public internet.
IT seems to me that a lot of spammers don't deliver to the MX record but use cached information. The proof I have is that I've changed my MX record long ago and mail is still delivered, in some cases, to the server directly.
The Idea is to use ASL to filter all mails and then deliver to the final server (in public internet) that has port 25 changed to another number so that only ASL knows to which port to deliver and the server itself is not subject of SMTP attack.
Or another reason would be running different mail servers on different ports ...in the back-end side.
Cheers
Neko
