yes jsut use ssh and use the joe editor "joe /etc/dyndns.conf"....I have mine running at 864000 seconds. then you can kill the daemon by issuing "killall -QUIT ez-ipupdate" then to start it back up use "/etc/rc.d/dyndns start"

DynDNS.org will time out your domain name registration after 35 days, unless it is refreshed. This is 3024000 seconds. After 30 days, five days before your registration expires, DynDNS.org will email you a reminder to that effect.

The ASL v5 DynDNS client default of 2073600 seconds is 24 days.
William's setting of 864000 second is 10 days.

Unless your IP address has changed, there is no real need to contact DynDNS.org to refresh your IP address and domain name any more often than every 28 days. This is  2419200 seconds. It is prudent to refresh the account before the 30 days expire, in order to avoid the generation of the remainder email.

The ASL default of 2073600 seconds, being 24 days, is actually a quite good setting, and the best thing to do is simply to leave it alone, and not change it. 

Excessive DynDNS.org domain name refresh logins serves no real purpose, and only contributes to increased loading of their servers. They have in the past had problems with clients that logged in too often.

And, if i remember right, if you update to often without changing your IP, they could also block your host.
Like VelvetFrog already told, otherwise they have too much unnecessary load on their servers.

when the external ip changes of asl, astaro automatically updates this at dyndns.org i suppose. normally it is the interval time right?

in asl v4 when i installed a dyndns client i have to give up also the interface. how does this work on asl v5?

[/ QUOTE ]DynDNS clients have both a minimum and a maximum interval setting. The min setting is typically 10 to 30 minutes. This setting is used when the IP address suddenly changes. The max setting is typically 3 to 4 weeks. This setting is used when there is no change in the IP address.

can you also change those settings or is it hardcoded. and in which file can i find those settings.

All settings can be changed, but you will likely do yourself a favour if you control your urge to change the DynDNS min and max settings, and just leave them alone, since you can't improve on them by changing them to something else.
