[5.010] Bugs?

Upgraded to 5.010

Problems:

1) SMTP Authentication seems to be an issue.  Requiring SSL authentication from the client.  Frankly I'd prefer just plain text.  Otherwise users are prompted to accept "unknown" certificate etc.  Major pain.

A warning by Astaro would have been great that we require SSL authentication, I had many unhappy users over the weekend including the Managing Director.

2) Network traffic graphs are showing 100mbit spikes.  Since my link is only 2mbps this has the effect of not being able to see any normal traffic, (the graphs look flatlined apart from the huge spikes).  This is a v5 problem, version 4 never had these spikes.

3) The license count problem (which is a known issue).

I hope these issues (especially SMTP auth) are fixed soon.  Otherwise it's back to version 4.022

    I've gone back to version 4.022

    After getting locked out of webmin, indeed I could not even ping version 5.010 from my machine.
    (Though I could access from any other box on our LAN).

    No rules were changed that would have affected me.  I even went in to the ASL box from another machine and added many ANY rules..  I cleared certificate caches, the works.
    (Except for a reboot as I didnt have time for this).

    Version 5 is not yet ready for production status on my network anyway.  The SMTP auth problems caused me a lot of problems at work.

    I think importing version 4.022 may have caused a lot of problems.  I will wait for fixes for listed issues and build the firewall up from scratch methinks.

    Version 5.010 worked, however too many niggly little issues to be happy with it.

    Also, webmin speed.  I purchased a Athlon AMD 2500+ CPU with 1GB RAM to run version 5.
    Despite this, version 4 webmin still runs marginally quicker on a PII-450 than v5 runs on the Athlon 2500+

    I have never and will never import from one version to another. Too risky...   gives u a chance to clean ur ruleset

    u are right v5 is not production ready.  v5.010 was a let down

    I just want to add that i appreciate a lot of places do not have the option not to import from older versions.

    Well, I *can* set it up from scratch of course.

    But it's a HUGE amount of work, multiple IPSEC links, mail servers, web servers, remote desktop definitions, citrix secure gateways etc etc etc etc.....

    Least it will give me a chance to clean up my rules and standardise namings etc...  Joy.
