Astaro is becoming a joke

I am using Astaro V5.006 on a 2GHz Celeron with 20GB & 256mb mem, my internet connection is a 8mb down and 2mbit up, only have 3 machines using this firewall.

I keep having problems with the emule client / Edonkey & SNMP Traffic , web server traffic, mail traffic. 
 
As you can see http://mrtg.duckplaza.net my astro firewall gets stuck  after a while ( a hard reboot is required "power button" ) and if I look under license I see 9000 ip address and only have 3 machines. 

My emule is configured for max 400 connections, and is working very slow or not at all.
All ports are configured in the proper way 4661 tcp, 4662 tcp, 4665 udp, 4672 udp with a dnat rule,
Also the HTTP Proxy is a big joke, when I use this with just the default settings, Internet is extremely slow or doesn't work at all.
When I configure a black-list or use the build-in policy's, my live ends as all Internet access is gone or builds page's for 20% and then just stops.

The virus scanner is not working at all, no traffic get true when it's enabled.

My website speed dropped down for at least 50% 
 
SMTP Mail is getting lost in the astrobox???, when I send a mail out and this mail never has seen the light again. 

After a virus scan update ( not all the time but once out of 4 ) a hard reboot is required as the machine is completely freezing and again a very hard reboot is required ( this doesn't look like the power of linux )....

    Just step back to version 4, and don't use 5 until you see people here raving about how solid it is.

    The only "joke" was not the entire company, but perhaps the imprudent decision of some to label 5 as ready for production. 20/20 hindsight, it should have been kept as beta for longer. I do not know what production contraints they are working under (for example, expectations from their VC funders?? resellers??)

    If you were a Windows shop, did you run out and get XP as soon as it became available? Or were you a guinea pig for the first release of Red Hat Enterprise?? If a vendor puts out a security patch, do you always install it within hours of its release???

    Maybe they made a mistake saying the new version was about ready for production; but I can assure you the company is not a joke. Compare the functionality and reliability track record of the 4 product to other vendors in their space, and I think you can see they're pros...

    SecApp.  i totally agree.  no 'joke', just a bit quick off the mark.  I can see great things for the new database driven V5.  I would give it a few more revisions

    what do you mean by database driven ? did i miss something ? didnt have the time to look at v5.

    V5 uses a confd daemon instead of flat config files.  hence why it is a tad slower, but a hell of a lot more user friendly.  

    Gets my goat how some posters put V5 on machines previously just good enough to run V4 and expect it to work just the same.  
    Doesnt anyone research these things first.  if they had they would know the requirments are very different.

    Sorry i am only talking about a very few posters, just annoys me..  Rant over..  :-)

    [/ QUOTE ]The big change in ASL v5 from the previous versions, is that all the configuration details are now stored in a proper database, controlled by a database engine, rather than in a number of flat ASCII text files as has been done in the past. This is quite a radical change, which required a complete rewrite of the Webadmin code.

    With the addition of the database engine, the resource requirements for ASL v5 are naturally higher than they were for the previous versions. To run v5 effectively, you really need to commit a GHz CPU with 512 MB RAM to the task.

    Hardware Requirements
    CPU: PII > 400MHz
    RAM: 128 MB (256 recommended)
    CDROM: IDE or SCSI (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
    Harddisk: > 5GB IDE or SCSI (see HCL for supported SCSI controller)
    NIC: at least 2 PCI NICs (see HCL for support chipsets)

    I don't see all this, doesn't say that V5 is in a test fase or has bug's.
    This looks like misleading also i am not happy going to use V4 and will state my complain with Astaro to get a refund or compensation.

    these are minimum requirements.  these will work, but performance will be slowed down when certain features are used.
     
    if you feel you require a different setup other than astaro then that is ur choice.  i use checkpoint NG R55 at work, does the job and the company is happy, you may feel that is a better option.  it was about £20,000 to install though.

    Astaro offers one product, but there are others.  it is ur choice which you use.

    Well i got a 2ghz 20mb 256mb wich should be more then plenty for a V5 astaro.
    Well it's not working, Proxy server, Virus Scanner, Surf Protection.
    Yes you can say it works on V4 but i don't want to use V4 as i specialy bought this home lic. upgrade for V5 and with conseption as seen on the website this is a good working product.
    Of course there always litle things that need updated, but i think this is crossing the line way too much.
    And seeing the post's on the BB i am not the only one.
