Would it be possible, in a future version, for the users who have purchased the Cobion content filtering, to have the Cobion database stored locally instead of somewhere in Boston, or Germany, or wherever?
I realise that there are people complaining about the 5 gig hard drive requirement as it is, but when I spoke with your sales rep I was told that with the number of potential clients ( 1,500+ ) using our ASL boxes I needed as fast a system as we could get with at least 1 GIG of RAM and a big hard drive. So when we purchased the licenses we also purchased a 2.4 gig P4 with 1 gig of ram and a 80 Gig drive.
I would gladly give up some of that wasted hard drive space for the increased speed of a locally hosted content filter database.
As it stands now, when computer X requests access to a site it has to access the cobion site in order to check it's classification. IF it answers in time you get the page. When you multiply this by our whole district, thats a whole lot of traffic just to the Cobion sites. If this database were stored locally it would speed up access to those sites plus cut down on traffic to the Cobion sites as well.
Our last content provider had this type of setup, and it's something we miss.
