clarkconnect is very similar to smoothwall in terms of firewall features. If you want a basic firewall servber with http caching then yes it is great. If you want a full featured firewall..a/v..surfing protection(which CC has with dan's guardian)...astaro still rules the roost. CC is good about equivalent to v4 without the a/v..however smoothie and CC only compete mainly on cost and cannot hold a candle to v5(when v5 is finally finished that is)..[[:)]] I deployed smoothie for a client because he could not afford the licensing fees of ASL..otherwsie we would have run ASL...I run CC 2.3 here at the house as a file server and have toyed with it as a firewall..frankly i would use smoothie over CC as a firewall and i run ASL v4 here at the house..[[:)]]
