Strange Behaviour

I had 3 Interfaces (1 internal + 2 external) )in my ASL v4.021 box and at the time of installation. I chose my internal interface to be the default and assigned it address like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
After the installation, as I tried to access the Web Admin, I failed to since the address that I had assigned to the internal interface was automatically assigned to one of my external interfaces. 
I had to reassign the addresses but I couldn't get the specific problem that caused it to do so. Perhaps it showed my external to be eth0 at the time of installation! Anyway, if anyone encounters this kinda problem, I would suggest that you plug the cables in all the interfaces and ping your box to see which interface responds. After that, you may reassign IPs to your interfaces.

    ASL should automatically pick eth0 to be your Internal interface.
    Whith several Ethernet circuits in a machine, the one with the lowest IRQ number should automatically initialize as eth0.

    There shouldn't be any problems with this, unless you are trying to use one of the other Ethernet interfaces that are using higher IRQ numbers as your Internal interface.

    In my ASL box, there is one Ethernet circuit on the motherboard, which I have configured in the Bios to use IRQ 9, I have two more Ethernet circuits on a dual Ethernet PCI card. They are configured to use IRQ 10 & 11. The internal network comes up on the motherboard Ethernet circuit each time I have reinstalled the ASL software. I don't have to look for it on the other Ethernet circuits.
