Can not access INTERNET on browser but can ping ip

astaro_rm
I can not access internet on browser but can ping IP address:

1. If I put http://www.yahoo.com on browser can not connect.
2. If I ping yahoo.com  it time out.
3. If I ping 216.109.127.28 it pings successfully. Note that this address is yahoo.com.
4. FTP, TELNET working fine.

    Sounds like a DNS/packet filter problem.
    Make sure you are allowing HTTP traffic out of your network and use 4.2.2.1 as your primary DNS server. See what happens.

    You are experiencing DNS lookup problems!
    Your browser is not able to receive DNS translations (e.g. translate www.yahoo.com to the IP number).

    Check that your DNS is configured properly in your workstation computer (it should be set to the IP of your ISP DNS unless you are running one of your own).

    Make sure that ASL has a properly set rule to allow your workstation to go out and make DNS requests.

    For testing purposes you may want to set a rule like
    Workstation -> Any -> Allow

    You can also set your ASL to act as a DNS proxy. You will have to tell him what are the IP's of your ISP DNS servers, and set your workstation to get DNS from your ASL internal NIC.

    [/ QUOTE ]That's a DNS problem for sure. Maurice already hit most of the points.
    Make sure to use Astaro as your DHCP gateway. Enable the DNS proxy and input your ISP DNS servers as 1 and 2 then set 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 as DNS 3 and 4.
    Set client workstations to "Auto Aquire" and IP and DNS in TCP/IP properties refresh IP's and everything should work.
