Testing AntiVirus

Is there any way to test AntiVirus for the Web feature in ASL 5?  I have the license enabled and have AV checking with a green icon under Surf Protection but don't get any errors on this page:  Eicar antivirus test files

    Hi there, 

    Virus Protection is not part of the Surf Protection, 
    you need to enable the last icon in the line, which is Virus Protection.

    I have that icon enabled (green) for the default profile and I have the default profile assigned to the Internal (Network) block.  Am I still missing something?  I can download the eicar test files without a problem.  I expected an access denied error or a text file from the firewall instead of the test file.

    there is a site that definantely has a virus on home page. your desktop AV will pick it up so you are safe to test it.

    I used this to test my web av. but only use this if you are sure of your desktop av software.

    I didn't get any antivirus pop-ups from my desktop software or from the firewall on that page (I hope that means that they have cleaned the page up.)  I do get a detection on the desktop software with the test files, but the firewall isn't stopping it from getting the desktop in the first place -- which it should be.  Any other ideas on this one?

    hi,

    i mean,the surf protection is only active, if you browse the inet over the http proxy!
    set the config in the ie.
    the surf protection musst have a profile(for example: default), and this musst you assign.
    in the Assigned Network Blocks field musst be write "any".
    if write in the field "internal network", the browse doesn't work.
    on my asl works fine and he protected me for the viruses on 
    the http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm homepage.

    Got it! Thanks for the help!  I had the proxy set to transparent, but didn't have the Intetnet network on the allowed network listing. Thanks again!
