Wrong Networkcard names

I have ASL 5.001 installed. 
Under Network -> Interfaces -> Hardware List are the names of the network cards wrong.
That’s mean eth3 is listed as " 3Com 3C905C-TX Fast Ether link for PC Management NIC" which is in reality eth1.
This is very confusing because, if you have a couple of network card, you don't know exactly were you had to plug in the cable.

Is this a Bug?

    Try looking at the file /etc/modules.conf . What does it look like? You should see something similar to this:

    vpnasl5:/root # cat /etc/modules.conf
    alias eth0 pcnet32
    alias eth1 pcnet32
    alias eth2 pcnet32

    I have the same problem after changing the network cards in my machine and doing a reinstall.

    I have 1 3com built in card as my WAN interface, an Intel Pro 100 S as my internal interface, and a Compaq dual port card (based on intel chipset) as my Wireless and DMZ interfaces.

    The modules.conf file shows 3 e100 modules and a 3com one.

    The problem is that even though I have my internal network connected to the Intel Pro 100 S, and it works perfectly, webadmin says I have it plugged into one of the two compaq ports.

    Is there any way I can edit the descriptions shown on the interfaces page?

    i tried to edit the ithwconf file in /etc but the my changes wern't kept at reboot.
