Total Concurrent Connections (newbee)

My connections peaked at 1950. Now all the traffic is gone for the day but the connections are still at 1750 shouldn't the connctions drop off as the traffic does? It's been a couple of hours.  eval V4

    Connections will sometimes show up, even if there is no real connection any more, and no further traffic. They appear to time out on the basis of the time-to-live number in seconds that they were given in the DNS server database.

    Would that be the DNS on astaro? Since the licensing is limited by connections I am concerned that I will hit the limit because of connections building up. I really am impressed with astaro I am just trying to guage my service level.

    No, Astaro's connection limit is counted differently. It is based on how many different IP addressed devices you have working at the same time on your Internal and DMZ networks.

    DNS timeouts are controlled by the people that created the various DNS name entries in their DNS servers. This TTL time is stated in seconds. I typically use 18000 for my entries, which is 5 hours. If you run your own DNS server on your Internal network, you can set the TTL on your own entries to a much lower number.
