DSL / static ip / not work correctly

hi,
i used a adsl connection with a static ip. it works, but only if i set the ip "assigned by remote". if i typed the ip into the ip field, only the connection from the asl self works. the lan cant connect to the internet.

is this normal on some providers or is this a cosmetic error by asl?

You havn't given much detail about your ADSL connection, but for UK ADSL this is the norm, with the ISP handing out an IP address dynamically, but handing out the same IP address each time.
